This article deals with the Law on Consumer Protection in European law background. As this issue is exorbitantly wide and consumer law is nowadays acting as an independent law branch, the author analyses the development of consumer law within the frame of the EU, since the acceptance of the Treaty of Rome until the present. The author focuses the attention on the legal regulations of consumer law protection in the Slovak legal order, in the context of the newly prepared Civil code.
